SPORT GUARDS TOP

What are sport guards ? TOP

Sport guards or sport mouthguards are a protective appliance that is worn over an athlete's teeth (encases the teeth, gums).

Why are sport guards important? TOP

When a sport mouthguard is worn (and fits properly) it helps provide protection for the hard (teeth and jaw) and soft (lips, cheeks, gums) tissues of the mouth, by absorbing and redistributing the forces generated by tramatic blows.

Why a "Custom" sports guard? TOP

Custom sport mouthguards are typically regarded as the most protective and comfortable type of guard. Therefore, the athlete is more likely to wear their sports guard. Custom sport guards only fit the athlete it was made for and they are still able to speak quite clearly.

Why not a "boil and bite" or generic sports guard? TOP

Typically they are uncomfortable, flop around in the mouth, and you must clench to hold them in place. Often you see athletes with their sport guards half in, half out of their mouths.

What sports should require a sports mouthguard? TOP

Any sport where player contact is commom. The following would be considered a contact sport. Football, boxing, ice hockey, roller hockey, lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, soccer, basketball, water polo, martial arts and wrestling.

Are there any other sports where one requires a sport mouthguard? TOP

BLEACHING TRAYS (TOOTH WHITENING) TOP

Who is able to use a bleach or tooth whitening system? TOP

We recommend that you always check with your dentist before bleaching. He is the best professional that would know if tooth whitening with bleach is best for you.

How many shades lighter will my teeth become and how long will it take? TOP

Depending on your initial shade, your teeth can become 6-10 times lighter. It may take 1-3 weeks to whiten your teeth. Each person is different. We recommend 1 hour every other day for 6 days. Tooth whitening with bleach will not lighten tooth colored restorations or crown and bridge. Therefore, there will be color discrepancies.

If I use more whitening gel and wear my trays more than recommended, will my teeth get whiter faster? TOP

It is very important that you do not over fill your trays or bleach longer than instructed.  Not following instructions can lead to extreme tooth sensitivity and tissue irritation.

What if I experience tooth sensitivity or discomfort? TOP

Some people will experience some degree of sensitivity. If this is the case with you, then bleach for only 1/2 hour every other day. If you experience severe sensitivity, STOP bleaching and contact your dentist. There are a few people that just cannot bleach!

What if I swallow some of the bleach? Is it safe? TOP

The bleach whitening gel will not harm you in the quantities swallowed under normal use. Any person who has known allergies should avoid tooth whitening and consult with their dentist prior to bleaching.

Who should not bleach? TOP

Any persons with known oral diseases, decay, periodontal/gum disease, etc., should avoid this product. Pregnant and nursing women should not use this product.

Is tooth whitening with bleach permanent? TOP

The results are not permanent. They should, depending on your habits, last for several months.

Once you receive all of your gels they should be stored in the refrigerator. We recommend that you remove the bleach from the refrigerator ½ hour prior to use. If stored properly, your unused bleach should last for 1 year.

SOFT NIGHTGUARDS TOP

Why might a soft nightguard appliance be advisable? TOP

Soft nightguards help protect the teeth and dental restorations from the damage caused from clenching or grinding. They place a barrier between the upper and lower teeth. Your smile is one of your greatest assets and can be safeguarded by wearing a night guard.

Will I be able to talk with my soft nightguard? TOP

Absolutely! Custom night guards are not bulky. They are fitted for your individual teeth. Your tongue is not restricted and moves around freely.

Do I only wear my soft nightguard at nightime? TOP

Our soft nightguards are so comfortable to wear while sleeping, plus you can wear them during the day without restrictions. Many people clench while at work or most often while driving. You will be able to talk while wearing your custom soft nightguard.

Will wearing my soft nightguard prevent me from clenching or grinding? TOP

No! Clenching or grinding is associated with either the psychological aspects of stress, one's abnormal bite, a sleep disorder, or a combination. Soft nightguards will not prevent clenching or grinding, only protect your teeth from them.

What about adjustments? TOP

Because our nightguards are custom made, there should be no need for adjustment.
